South Africa’s first black president and anti apartheid symbol Nelson Mandela has died at 95. He’d been receiving extensive medical care in the home to get a lung infection after spending 3 months in hospital.
Nelson Mandela was created Rolihlahla Mandela on July 18, 1918, within the small town of Mvezo, on the banks of the Mbashe River in Transkei, South Africa. ‘Rolihlahla’ within the Xhosa language actually indicates ‘tugging the department of the tree,’ but additionally interprets as ‘trouble-maker.’ Nelson Mandela became the very first black leader of South Africa in 1994, helping until 1999. Emblematic of worldwide peace-making, Nelson Mandela won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993.

Winter Olympics 2014 In The Big Picture


Earlier last month in Greece, the Olympic flame began its ceremonial journey to the site of the Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. The flame is being carried across all 83 regions of Russia via relay by torchbearers. The flame has already visited the North Pole and International Space Station as it travels to the opening ceremonies on Feb. 7.
